30th Anniversary Bridgman Community Garage Sale
The Friends of the Library's 30th Anniversary Community Garage Sale dates are Saturday, May 19th and Sunday May 20th.

Permits are still on sale through Friday, May 18th at the Bridgman Library for $12 each. The map has been printed and will be distributed on Saturday, May 19th from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the corner of Lake & Church Streets (one block east of the railroad tracks).

PLEASE EXCUSE THE MESS

Beginning Wednesday, May 16th, the Library will be under construction. The skylight in the original part of the library, known as KalWall, needs to be replaced. The new skylight will be just like the original, only much brighter. KalWall is a trusted name in skylights and the same company has been hired to do this work. Originally installed in 1984, the skylight is a focal point of the library and it was important to maintain this beautiful feature. We apologize for any noise or disruptions but we know you will enjoy all the light that will soon be shining in.

HARDING'S AND eSCRIP
The Bridgman Library would like to take this opportunity to thank Harding's and eScrip for offering this wonderful program. Last year, Harding's donated more than $840 to the Bridgman Library, all made possible because you scanned your eScrip card when you shopped at Harding's. Thank you Harding's, eScrip and Bridgman shoppers. Each donation makes a BIG difference!!!
Wow! From now through June, all Library eScrip donations will support the Library Community Garden!!!

Travel Talk with John: South Africa & Kenya
For the past 11 years of John's business career, he and his wife had the opportunity of traveling to his company's plants around the world. They traveled over 1.5 million air miles to 100+ countries. The most interesting part of their world travels was visiting with the locals.

In 1997, John and his wife were guests at Marius Els' private Waterbuck Game Farm, close to South Africa's Kruger National Park. In 1998, they visited Kenya and went on a safari at the Little Governor's Camp in the Maasai Mara and then stayed at The Ark.

Join John on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. as he shares his experience traveling in South Africa and Kenya.

PARK AND READ!!!!
Michigan's Department of Natural Resources has partnered with the Library of Michigan to offer "Park & Read". This program will be available through October 1, 2012.
Park & Read allows residents of the City of Bridgman and Lake Charter Township with a current and valid library card the ability to "check out" a one day pass into any of the 98 Michigan state park or recreation areas in lieu of the resident daily motor vehicle permit. This $6 savings also provides free access to events taking place in state parks throughout the summer.
Passes are valid for seven (7) days from check out, can be used for one day only and are limited to one per family, per week. For more information or to check one out call or stop by the Bridgman Library.

Knit N Yarn
The Knit N Yarn group recently received a Heart of Cook grant to buy yarn for various community projects. They are in the process of making sun tops and shirts to send to the Musoma Children's Home in Tanzania. The group is also working on knitted and crocheted felted purses for an orphanage/school in Africa and creating items for the Bridgman Lions Club. This winter they contributed hats and mittens to the Benton Harbor Head Start program. A big "Thank You" goes to the Heart of Cook Foundation for their generous grant.

Bridgman Library is home to the Knit n' Yarn knitters. This group welcomes anyone who does needle crafts of any kind. If you would like to join them, they meet every Monday and Thursday from 1 to 3 pm and the third Tuesday of each month at 6 pm. It doesn't matter your level of expertise, beginner or master or no experience at all, the members would be happy to welcome you to the group. For more information contact the Library at 269-465-3663.
